E & S Maternity Session | New York

Why does a photographer from central Massachusetts travel to upstate New York for a maternity session?

I met Elizabeth during my freshman year at SUNY Cobleskill in New York. We quickly became friends and did a lot of things together. The next year, we moved into an apartment together. We hiked together, we cooked together, and she made rice crispy treats and ate the whole pan. I graduated with my associates degree and she went off to Cornell. We kept in touch over the years. I’ve bought a few brown Swiss calves from her and have gone just to visit.

I don’t think I’ve ever met someone so hard working and determined than her. Day in and day out this woman works on her families heifer raising farm, ensuring that all of the heifers needs are met and well taken care of. She hauls heifers with her truck and trailer multiple times a week and never skips a beat. She still continues to do these things even at 8 months pregnant. She does’t know the words “slow down,” or maybe just doesn’t listen to them. I think it runs in the family. Her parents are hard workers and have done an amazing job raising her and her siblings. I know Liz will do the same.

When she told me she was pregnant, I was so excited. I wasn’t sure if I’d see the day. I quickly bombarded her with all of my knowledge of being pregnant and what things helped me on the farm with babies. When she asked me to come out and take maternity photos I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait.

I met Sam the day I came out for photos. He has the same determination and hard work values that Liz does. You could clearly see the love that they have for each other and the baby boy on the way. These photos came out better than I could have hoped. I am honored that they chose me to capture this beautiful time in their lives. I can’t wait to meet this little boy.
