E & G Farm Wedding | Massachusetts

Massachusetts Wedding Photography

Backyard farm weddings are my favorite of all time. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a beautiful barn or a gorgeous ball room, but I also love being out in nature. You can hear the birds chirping and the wind blowing through your hair.

Liz and Gregg’s wedding wasn't any ordinary wedding for me, this was a family wedding. Gregg is my younger cousin. I still remember when he was born. I have photos holding him when he was just a baby! He faced some challenges in his younger years, but has grown up to be a very talkative and kind human. When Liz asked me to be their wedding photographer, I immediately said yes! They weren’t sure if they should ask because I would have been a guest, but I love being useful! I am so honored that they asked me!

Liz and Gregg to together like watermelon and mayo, and if you think that that combination doesn’t go together, Liz will teach you otherwise! It has been fun to watch their love flourish over the years. They bought a house, got a couple of dogs, so obviously the next step is marriage. They are both first responders, him a firefighter and her a nurse. These times can be scary for both of them, but love over powers all.

Liz and I grew up in the same town. I even worked with her mom for a little while at a local veterinary office. Where we come from, everyone knows everyone. It’s funny how intertwined our families already were before this marriage.

The officiants of the wedding were my mom, Greggs aunt, and my uncle, also Greggs uncle. The funny part is that Uncle Brian was also the officiant of my wedding back in 2012. Its a very special thing having a family member be able to say “I now pronounce you husband and wife.” After the beautiful, sun soaked ceremony, everyone had ample time to see the bride and groom and all of their family and friends. We had a fantastic meal provided by .

Once the dance floor opened, the party never stopped. We danced our hearts out. You’ll find me blending in with the crowd with my camera in hand busting the only dance moves I know.

A few tips for a backyard wedding.

  • Be ready for hiccups. They happen a lot when you’re planning your own thing and doing it all by yourself. Just let it go and keep on going.

  • Don’t forget the boutonnieres at your house.

  • Hire a great DJ! One who keeps the party going and can roll with the punches when things aren’t going as planned.

  • Get a good caterer. Liz and Gregg had Meyers Catering out of East Hampton, Mass. The food was excellent!

  • Have an open bar. Buy all of the alcohol ahead of time and hire a great, trustworthy bartender. Or hire a mobile bartending service like, Lively Libations, who specializes in craft cocktails!

  • Last but not least, don’t forget to take time for yourselves. Stop for a moment and take it all in. This is your day and it rushes by. Stop. Breathe. Watch. Everyone is here to celebrate your love.
