R & J Rustic Wedding | Massachusetts
Marriage is not just the union of two people. It is the intertwining of souls, lives, and families. Most people know when they’ve met their soulmates. They have this deep obstinate love that never wavers. Always laughing, always playing, but also always cherishing and consoling each other. This is exactly what the love between Rose and Joe is like.
When Rose first contacted me to have a couples session, I immediately fell in love with her personality. She was bubbly and confident. We went over outfits for their session and where we would go. Little did she know that about 2 weeks before the session, her boyfriend Joe reached out to me and said that he wanted to propose during the session. I was so nervous and excited to be able to capture this special moment for them. When they showed up for the session, Joe came over to me when Rose was changing and he said “The rings in my boot and its digging into my leg!” I laughed and said it’s all part of the game.
Everything went on without a hitch. It was the the most perfect proposal in the golden sunshine at sunset on the farm. It took her a minute after she turned around to realize what was happening. She started bawling. I was shaking and crying right along with them. From that moment on, I have been a part of their lives. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. That night, Rose told me I was photographing the wedding. I don’t believe she asked, just told me.
Of course I agreed. They put so much thought into their wedding day. From the decorations, the DJ, the venue, and even more the first look. The whole day was so special and emotional. Rose made the most beautiful bride, and Joe, the most handsome groom. The first look was in a farmers field across from Joe’s parents house. We embraced the full sunshine in the beautiful hay field.
It was clear that they spent countless hours working on the New England Motel, a part of the Brimfield Antique Show that belongs to Joe’s family. The many strings of lights, the white pumpkin center pieces, the handmade bar, and the s’mores station, were just some of the many beautiful details of this wedding. Firefly’s BBQ catering was the most perfect choice for this wedding. I would actually like someone to look at me the way Rose looked at those chicken wings.
Things that I loved most about Rose and Joes wedding are not actual things. I loved the love that they have for each other, real, raw, and beautiful. The first look was one of my favorite parts. It gave us time to actually be intentional and be in the moment for a bit. We weren’t running around trying to grab all of the bridal party shots in between cocktail hour and the reception. The extra time was spent at cocktail hour socializing and enjoying their friends.
Rose and Joe, I am so happy and honored to be the person you chose to document your love story.
