Elizabeth and Sam | The Barn at Hansen Hill Farm Wedding | New York

New York farm wedding, sunset bridal portrait

When I go into a wedding, I have zero expectations. I know that things can change in an instant. Timelines have to change, vendors change, even feelings change, but that all adds to the story. I did however go into this farm wedding with expectations, mostly for myself. I felt a lot of pressure from myself to do my best. This couple deserves the world, and I wanted to give that to them. In order to do that, we need to let go of perfection and embrace the imperfections. Focusing on the little moments in between, while also observing the perfect ones.

Telling the couples story from start to finish isn’t an easy feat. However, it’s what I strive to do with photography. This is why I do this. I want you to be able to look back on the photos and be able to feel every single emotion that you felt that day and leading up to that day, love, loss, happiness, and pride. Sometimes the road leading up to this day is not the easiest. The hard times add character to our story and who we are as a human, and as a couple. Some couples go through hard times before they’ve been able to experience the good and that just makes them stronger. A wet rope, makes a tighter knot.

Elizabeth and Sam got the most beautiful day that they deserved. While it was a bit chilly, the sun gave us the most amazing golden sunset. I spent most of my morning with Elizabeth at her house with her bridesmaids and mother, sharing laughs, smiles, and jokes. Elizabeth was getting her hair done while her sister, Emily, was getting her make-up finished. The flower girls were playing in the living room, twirling in their dresses.

Sam and the guys were getting ready at Elizabeth’s grandparents house. I popped in over there to get some photos of them all hanging out and getting ready. Sam enjoy’s some Farmweiser from Stone Cow Brewery, so I brought some as a treat. Elizabeth has some specific requests for photos with the grain bins and Farmweiser’s. The guys were laid back and fun for the whole process.

Elizabeth arrived to the wedding in her big green tractor with her dad. Just how any farm girl should. Brought down the aisle by her beautiful mom and handsome dad, the wedding went off without a hitch and the emotions were felt throughout the entire ceremony. It was a beautiful sunset and the perfect amount of time for bridal portraits before the reception. Inside, everyone was warm and happy, kids were dancing on the floor while the DJ played fun wedding tunes. The Barn at Hansen Hill was the most perfect spot with the most perfect view. The food from the Farmers Feed Bunk was delicious. The flowers from Lot 32 Flower Farm were stunning. This upstate New York farm wedding was the most beautiful and perfect wedding I have had the pleasure of being at. Weddings don’t need to be planned years in advance, this perfect farm wedding was planned in less than three months. Thank you so much to Elizabeth and Sam for letting me be part of their day and allowing me to tell their story.
